WSC alumnus (he was an excellent student) and OURC intern (he’s a gifted young man who is already a fine preacher), Jonathan Moersch has been commissioned by the consistory (session or elders and ministers) of OURC to begin the work of church planting in South Orange County, CA. Jon writes:
The more people I talk to, the more I am convinced that south Orange County (San Clemente/Dana Point/San Juan Capistrano) needs a confessionally Reformed congregation. With that in mind, my consistory, the Oceanside United Reformed Church, has discussed, prayed, studied, and developed a plan over the last 6 months. Now they have commissioned me to go about the work of gathering a core group of those who are interested in meeting on a regular basis for a Bible study taught from a Reformed perspective.
If you or someone you know would be interested, please e-mail me at jonathanmoersch@yahoo.com so I can compile an interest list. For more information visit South Orange County Reformed Bible Study.
Thank you and God bless,
Jonathan Moersch
If you’re not in the South Orange County area but know someone who might be interested, please let them know about this Bible Study. If you don’t know anyone in the area (or if you do) and if you think of the work, please pray for God’s blessing, specifically that the Spirit would go ahead of Jon, to convict sinners of their need for the Savior and to soften their hearts and open their ears to the gospel, as he seeks to reach out to the unchurched in South Orange County. It’s an affluent area where people are more familiar with being catered to than challenged to repent and believe. We’re Calvinists. We confess the sovereignty of God and are seeking to act on the great commission by extending his kingdom through church planting.

I live on Pendleton and am relatively new to ca. I have no christian friends out here and really don’t know where to go yet. Wanna get away from the “typical marine lifestyle”. I miss church and solid, biblcal, god-centered people. Its been a long time since I’ve been to church or walked the walk. If you have anything going on that I can participate in please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Eric,
Oceanside URC is just south of O-Side in Carlsbad, on the PCH (Highway 101) on the campus of the Army-Navy Academy. There are a few marines who worship with us from time to time so, if you need transport, they might be able to help.
