• Darry Hart posts a suitably provocative essay at DRC. One caveat, DG seems to suggest that the only basis for making monogamy a condition for admitting Mormon Utah was special revelation. I reply by asking why natural law isn’t a sufficient basis? Yes, there was polygamy under Abraham and Moses, but doesn’t Jesus say that it was permitted, under Moses, because of the hardness of their hearts, but it was not so in creation? If the creational order included monogamy, then why couldn’t we insist that the Utah polygamists had to desist on the basis that polygamy is contrary to nature, just the way we insist that cannibalism is contrary to nature?
